In my honest opinion I had the same problem with algae in the beginning stages I used this and my nutrients bottomed out first came the cyano and then dinos I think for algae just keep doing your water changes untill it stabilizes then you will see fewer algae. People here may have different opinions on it but. But for me it led to cyano and dinos. It’s going to kill all the algae and since you don’t have a skimmer all that excess nutrient is just gonna be in the tank and make things out of whack

That makes sense.

After @LRT explained things, I’m doing 2 water changes per week and removing algae manually as I can.
