I've got an update for you:

The Tridacna's tissues have grown quite a bit.
What's really impressive is the amount of growth of its skeleton. Is it normal?
Yep, when happy they use a huge amount of calcium and alk. It does seem to go in spurts ime but totally white scutes are normal but growth does slow down when larger as they add to the inside of the shell, so the consumption still is huge and increases.

After 15 months this is how it has become. I find it incredible how different it looks like depending on wether you see it from the top or from the front of the tank.

I love these guys! I would love one for my Red Sea max nano but I worry the water isn’t stable enough..
Well, 2 years later and I have 2 clams in my nano :)
Your maxima really is inspiring but also fuels my addiction when I see it…

Really? That’s great. Please share some pics here. Are they both Tridacna maxima?
One is a maxima, the other is deresa :)
The deresa is going to be 1 year old in March and the Maxima will be around 6 months either March or April :)

here’s my gold maxima. the smaller one is my crocea. i’ve since moved the crocea since gravity was forcing it to sag under the maxima. waiting for it to reattach to the cradle for it

Wow! They look so elegant. Is this a rare species?
They are less common, and less likely imported. Normally they are not as colorful as the two I have. Color Noae clams are really expensive. I was lucky to get these two missed labeled as Maxima. They were called "Teardrom Maxima" in the past anc color similar to this T. noae I imported from Vietnam in the early 2000.
