Picked it up this weekend from out local swap. Around 6" across. Any way to know if this is a French Polynesian maxima?

It could be. It has the large stocky (kind of bulky) shells that the Tahitians have. Very pretty...

Thanks guys. I have since moved him up on the rock work and he is opening much wider now. Seems very happy where he is.
