I do weekly water changes. And before the last 2 weeks only had 3 small fish in the tank. So I dont think there was much of a bio load. Also feed every other day.

What percentage water changes are you doing? I am thinking 30% - 40% is good, but I just read a couple reasons for not doing larger water changes. I might consider going smaller like 25% - 30%. One reason is it is too drastic of a change to the environment for the animals and the other is the inconsistency in the amount of heavy metals and unknown amounts of toxicity in salt crystals (even the good stuff). Because it is industrial or commercial grade, the standards for eliminating the heavy metals are not as stringent. Heavy metals are extremely toxic to corals and fishes.

When I switched tanks I used around 30 gallons of the existing tank water plus a fresh salt mix of around 40 gallons. It ended up being like doing a water change of over 50%. I wouldn't do it alot but I did not injure any coral or fish. If that helps

Great stuff man. Love the storage unit mod from Home Depot. How do you like the reef leds? Thinking about getting a pair. Also wanted your thoughts on the hygger. I picked aquatop since amazon reviews were good, but seems low quality from some of the critical reviews. Lastly, how did you level the tank? Shims? Felt pads for feet?

I have a couple mini Hygger wave makers that I set up in my Nano 20 as a gyre before I shut it down. Nice quality. Very small, fits in the palm of your hand.

I wanted to ask you about the REDSEA Reef Salt. Did you get the blue bucket and are you dosing the tank? I just changed my water for the first time using the REDSEA blue bucket mostly because my Calcium and Mg were so high and I had a few Monti’s start to bleach. I had been using Instant Ocean Reef Salt Crystals. I’m using both ELOS and REDSEA test kits. Ca = 540 (way too high), KH 10.6 (perfect), Mg = 1,720 (way too high). I executed multiple tests.
I think the REDSEA blue bucket is too low in Ca and KH. Only, 430 ppm and 9.2, respectively when tested prior to water change. I have mostly SPS plus 2 clownfish and a damsel and some pink tipped rainbow anemones.I do like the way the salt dissolved. I aerated for ~24 hours. What are your thoughts?
I am enclosing a photo of my sump and the rusty hinge.

Thank you. Me too.
Hi All,
Nice build!! I have the Red Sea Max E-260 with the sump upgrade which is similar to the 250. My daughter has the E-170 with the Reef LED 90. It's a good light and you will like the outcome.
I currently use the Red Sea Coral Pro salt and Aquaforest Component 1-2-3 and have a consistent 460 Ca, 9.1 Alk and 1380 Mag. So you may want to try the Coral Pro as the Ca, Alk and Mag levels are elevated.

I love the lights. The app is easy to use and simple. Just blue and white light adjustment. No complaints on the hygger. As for leveling I used composite shims. My floor wasn't level at all so it took me over an hour , wish the tanks all came with adjusting feet

Oh, My Goodness! You have an incredibly beautiful tank. I opened up the photo and enlarged it to look at everything. The Zoas are amazing! They are gigantic and they look so healthy, everything does. Nice job. My tank is only a couple of months online. I have been mixing REDSEA Black & Blue Bucket 5:1 and it seems to be working out for me. Things have stabilized. Ca = 470, KH = 9.8, Mg = 1360.

Hi there, my XL200 came with adjustable feet. I’m surprised that yours didn’t. Do you have any new photos of your animals? Would love to see how things are coming along. JL

I believe the xl is the newest version of the rsr line and a little larger of a tank. Might be why they include adjustable feet

Currently running on "acclimation " setting. Lights at 50% . Blues hit 50% whites only 40. I'm excited to see what it looks like after the acclimation is finished

They are super simple to use. I got them because I really like the way they look.
