Pls don’t hammer me tang police
I am actively looking for a 90 gallon

anyway, I purchased a tomini tang for $75 at the fish store yesterday, and he looked very healthy, and was picking on rocks for algae. He is around 2-3 inches long

I put him in my 40 gallon mixed reef, and so far, he is exploring and not hiding unless there is movement in the house, but comes right out.
He has great coloration and looks pretty plump

I have one in my 32G Biocube - best fish I have ever had in my 50 years of keeping aquariums.
Peaceful and pecks away at the rock work all day long.

if he's rubbing then unfortunately all the fish need to come out and treated in a QT tank. However since you just added him id leave him be. You can successfully manage ICH and be perfectly fine. Feed quality food and keep your water stable and you'll be fine. If you are upgrading to a 90 in the near future I would then treat the fish for 30 days in copper power while the 90 cycles. DO NOT USE THE ROCK OR SAND FROM THE OLD TANK as it could bring in an encrusted ich parasite
