Wow, very beautiful, I tried my hands at a nps tank once. I never could find enough corals to keep my interest. How long have you had it up. My build was very interesting, here it is.

Thank you. This system has been running for 2 years now. it is an upgrade from my older NPS tank. It is true that sourcing for NPS corals is quite challenging. The market demand is pretty much LPS, SPS dominated.

What do you feed them with and still keep the glass and sand looking clean?

The glass is cleaned manually once a week. Sandbed I pretty much let the flow take care of it. Recently I have been toying with the idea of introducing sand sifting starfishes, but am quite sure they will eventually get eaten by the orange ball anemones.

So you're the real deal. It's easy to spend a bunch of money, feed the tank and wake everyone up, then take a bunch of photos. Then everything dies. Do you have a built thread or explanation of your system, when I was building my tank I had to take bits of info from here and there, and saw nothing like your tank.

Love the tank! Do you by chance have any frags of nps corals for sale? I’m wanting to add some under my big shelf rock.

I enjoyed the pictures. As others have requested, it would be nice to hear more. Many of us are curious about what it takes to run a successful NPS setup.

Thank you all for the compliments. My technique to long term NPS reefing is not a topic I can hope to cover within one post. I shall attempt to break it down to several posts, starting with the basics.

the tank is 1000mm by 1000mm by 450mm. Almost 450 litres or 120 us gallons.

the sump is approximately 200 litres or 50 us gallons.

filtration is a Sicce 3.5 return pump, pumping water through a filter floss, before entering into a bio media compartment, then into a refugium stocked with chaeto and mangroves. Finally to a Red Sea skimmer 600 before returning to the display tank.

Flow is three Sicce voyagers (6000, 6500 and a smaller 1000).

The flow is controlled by a Sicce wave surfer, alternating the 6000 and 6500 every 3 minutes.

#Tip: NPS corals, especially the filter feeders, appreciate strong and laminar but indirect flow. Alternating the direction of the flow is important to ensure foods is brought to the polyps in all directions.
