I wanted to share a picture of my plate tree coral. This is a coral I bought off another member of my local reef club about a year ago. This coral is about 10 years old and has been passed around my club all that time. As the baby plate corals grow, they drop off the tree at about 1" in diameter. A new one starts to grow at the attachment point. I've had 4 drop off in one week, and sometimes nothng for a month or two. Unique coral and pretty rare, I think.

I think they just stay plate corals. When they don't get blown away and I notice that they have dropped, I usually sell them locally for $20 a pop.

Very cool! I wish we had something like that in our club. Do the babies end up doing the same thing or what?
jt, i have this coral. mine is light mint green base with a purple ring, purple mouth and a few purple spots. if your ever around you should come by and see.
