My reefing journey (PolypPocket)

So I wasn’t going to start a member tank thread because frankly I’m brand new to reefing (not to saltwater, but corals yes) and my tanks aren’t going to be anything special compared to some of the awesome ones other members share. But then I thought it might be a nice thing to look back on after they progress in the coming years.

I have two tanks, a 40 oz system from PNW and a 6 gallon cube, that originally was supposed to just be a cookie jar filled with Xenia and a few macros but I went a little crazy.

First the 6 gallon:

I’m getting a shipment with some corals tomorrow but have already filled it with live rock & sand from TBS as well as a bunch of macros from Mosaic Macros. It’s been running for about 3 weeks.

Macro list:

•Blue Hypnea Macroalgae | Hypnea
pannosa
•Orange Galaxy Macroalgae | Halymenia stipitata (atomic broccoli)
•Flaming Phoenix Macroalgae | Haliptilon sp.
•Purple Fauchea Macroalgae | Fauchea sp.

•Rainbow Vine Macroalgae | Gracilaria sp.
•Gorgonian-Encrusting Macroalgae |

The 40 oz:

This one has been running for 1.5 months, and houses the following:

•Bam Bam Zoas
•Peach Florida Ricordea
•Red Blasto Merletti
•Molten Galaxy Acan
• Green Anacropora (this came in the shipment as a surprise, hoping I don’t kill it)

Livestock:

•Green Porcelain Crab (hitchhiker)
•Pom Pom Crab (destined for the 6 gallon)

Will have updates soon after the shipment arrives, in case anyone wants to see what I get.

Right?! I mean I’m not very experienced but compared to the regular zoas I’ve seen they’re monsters

Finally glued them down after a month and a half of trying to decide where to place everything.

When I glued the acan and Blastos they weren’t inflated and seemed much farther apart so I didn’t realize how close they would actually be. Hoping there’s no warfare but so far so good (it’s been several days)

Added pods and a bit of phyto today too for the first time. My porcelain crab was fanning away

It’s my favorite! It’s a Florida Peach Ricordea (that often looks green lol). Very easy to care for!
