Long story short had a 300ish gallon inwall system running in an old house that I sold when we moved into our current house 6 years ago. I've missed the tank since and finally have decided to get back in the hobby.
Promised my wife I wouldn't let this system grow to the size of the old one and that I would try to make this one less time consuming. I have had the cycle going for exactly a week and figures it would be nice to have a build thread with pictures and documentation from the very beginning, so here it goes.
The System:
--75 gallon reef ready display with a 30 gallon sump divided into 3 sections
--SRO 1000 Int skimmer
--Sicce Syncra 4 that will feed main tank and at least 2 media reactors
--2 Jebao QP-9 controllable powerheads
--2 Marsaqua 165 watt led fixtures that I will possibly replacing some diodes in.
--Reefkeeper Lite controller with an extra pc 4
The plan:
Regardless of what the test kits tell me I will keep the tank fishless for at least another 3 weeks, the rocks I have are either old dried rocks that I acquired or new dry rock, seeded with a few lbs from a lfs. I want to make sure tank is completely ready before making additions.
Since I was used to having easy access to all of my equipment from my previous setup I wanted to mimic that with this stand. Although I cannot access the back of this tank I designed the stand to have almost complete access with removable front and side panels. Basically the stand was built with 2x4 and 2x6's then further framed out and skinned to look like a built-in cabinet. We haven't decided what color to finish it yet. I have also taken over an adjoining closet for tank related storage.
Learning from my previous tank I will only be adding corals I know I like and will keep (aka no Kenya trees or xenia). I plan on zoas and rics lower in the tank and sps as I work my way up.
