This is going to sound stupid but I have the media basket and fuge and I am wondering how you keep track of evaporation? I need to figure it out soon my tank is cycling.

I use a jbj ATO with an aqualifter connected to a 2.5g jug that does the trick. Either that or you draw a line on your fuge and fill to it every day. The ATO is nice because it's more consistent and it doesn't require any input from you aside from filling your reservoir from time to time. There are several ATO's out there. JBJ, Neptune, and Apex to name a few

I just keep a 5 gallon bucket of ro di on hand. With the biocube and mediabaskets and fuge you need the water level too be higher.

I haven't had any algae problems since april. Nitrates phosphates ammonia at zero. I use chemipure elite and phosgaurd in the Intank media filter, with a heaping water of chaeto in the fuge opposite light cycle. I change 5 gallons of water every Wednesday with reef crystals religiously. I'm still using stock lighting for now. I clean the light cover every day and open it on a week to clean inside it. Lotta dust gets in there.

You take the light cover off every week? That is a lot of screws to remove and hopefully not lose. :)

anybody have any idea why my zoas are the only thing in my tank that will not open? I started putting iodide in the tank to try and help them, but no result. I moved them to lower light, and still not opening. I dont know what to do.

I have had a 29G Biocube for a little over a month (started on Labor Day weekend) and I just added my first coral (zoas) about a week and a half ago. I have them on the bottom of my tank and they will open with only the one LED light bar turned on. I have only used real ocean water (box water from Petco) and feed my clowns frozen brine shrimp.

I'm not sure why your zoas won't open in a Biocube. Maybe try to spot feed them some brine or something similar to Larry's reef food.

This picture was only about a half hour after I turned on the LED and actinic light.

Just did a waste change before I took pics the leather always shrivels up for a few hours afterwards. The acan I've had about two weeks and bands fraged the day before I got it. I think its still recovering. At least hope so. It does take mysis shrimp though.water parameters are all 0 except nitrates at about 10

Feed the acan twice a week, watch it thrive! I mix mysis , tiny amount of coral frenzy & reef roid with tank water and spot feed.

Nice tank legacy. Does your nem always stay on the bottom or does it move around? I thought they liked being on rock.

Its a plate coral. I put that rock in there when i added it to the tank and it walked about 3 inches to the left and sat down. Its been there since i got it and seems to be very happy.

Nice tank nightshiner and all of you on this thread. Here is my 29 biocube. It's in the "nano in 90" competition, winner to be announced Wednesday! I had fun setting this one up! The only thing I haven't upgraded is the lighting. Still got the stock PC's, I'm gonna put a retrofit rapidLED when I get a chance.
