We are planning on building our house in the next five years so I really didn't want to go full blown dream build but I have always love the shallow/ lagoon style reefs so thats what I went for. I mean if you can call 20" high shallow. But its what I wanted.

So I finally got my new custom tank delivered. The aquarium measurements are 48"x24"x20".
Starfire glass on all 3 sides. The overflow flow is 24" long by 1' wide and external drains with 3 1" bulkhead 2 3/4" returns on each side of the overflow. The tanks manufacturer is (Oceanlifeaquariums)
I also got the option of there metal stand which I made it a little higher since the tank is only 20".

That overflow is very nice. I think you can get away with calling 20” shallow :)

what are you planning on filling it with??

So now the fun begins the plumbing.
I'm trying something I haven't done before instead of a single 90°s I'm using 2 45°s to see if it there much of a difference. I have 3 1" drains. The main drain has a gate valve that will feed the filter roller mat. The return is fed from 1" from the pump to a 1" T with 3/4" reducer then its 3/4" all the way up to the ball valves then to the return bulkheads. I used as many unions as I could on both the return side and drain side just in case. In this hobby you never know.

Now for the sump I chose i went with that Bashsea SMS-3018 Smart Series I contemplated over many different sumps but I really like how this is 18" from front to back. Once I peel the protection paper off the sump I will update this post with my sump but I have pulled some pictures of the sump I'm using. You can also see the sump in my other posts butbits still has the protection paper on it..

So when it came to the skimmer I didn't want the average everyday skimmer I wanted something different that you do not see everyday. So I went with the Bashsea 6-24 twisted skimmer thats is fed my a sicce 5.0. Ever one I talk to told me that that type of skimmer is better than any other skimmer because of its injection and mixing system. yes its a little bulky but its very efficient, don't have to worry about it over flowing or any of other problems the other skimmer on the market have. It truly is a beast. The air to water mixture is nothing I have ever seen before.. and I didn't want a skimmer that I had to put in the sump. I want an external skimmer and the bashsea 6-24 can be a internal or external skimmer..

So for the brains to this system I want the best I ran neptune on my system previously and I just wasn't happy with it at all. There was a number of problems right out the box.
So with this system I'm going full GHL I'm get the Profilux mega set
KH Director
ION Director.

And I will be posting and update and unboxing video when these items arrived. I will post my YouTube channel in this build thread when all the items im waiting on get here.

For lighting I'm kinda stuck. I would really like to use 3 GHL Mitras LX 7206 because there really the only REEF LED THAT PUTS OUT TRUE UV.. All the other leds on the market do not put out anything below 400nm.. and true UV is below 400nm. So if I can't go GHL Mitras LX 7206 Because there priced out of what I can spend after I get all the other GHL products. I'll have to use what lights I have now and pick up 2 Radion XR15 g5 pros. But I really like the Mitras tho... hard decision.

And here is the stand wrap that was built to fit around the metal stand. Still have to put on the handles. Then the stand is done.

I’m thinking about getting some to try out. I like UV, but not sure if the amount would make that much of a difference. That being said, I like reflectors on multi-chip LEDs. I Want to see if they really have managed to avoid the disco effect that plagues all other LED lights not under a single lens…have you decided yet?

Well I ended up going full GHL and everything just arrived. The only thing I have to wait on is the Ion Director. Which I know is hard to get they just start shipping out the pre-orders.. but I will be starting the switch this week and I will be posting videos about the GHL products on my YouTube channel.

The tanks I've seen that run Mitras there isn't really any disco that I saw. But I will see when I get them up and running.
