Probably. If I fed the tank with anything oily or with amino acids in it, I have to turn my skimmer off for an hour or it goes crazy.

Thanks,
Skimmers are new to me (another new reefer learning curve). I spent a better part of 30 min cleaning the walls, the collection cup, the back of the tank (4" between the wall and tank is really small) and fiddling with it. I eventually got it under control and its back to normal today (pumping out a bunch of gook). Honestly I am lucky this is new so it is funny to me. My wife laughs at me making err … comments about what is going on.

Most of us have been is the same or very similar boats to you over the years. My wife goes for a walk around the neighborhood when I'm 'fixing' something that has gone wrong. It's not that I yell too much, but she hates to see me get frustrated! And this hobby can be... let me rephrase that... this hobby is very frustrating at times! ;)

Just keep asking questions. At 15 years in the hobby and I still have to ask questions. There's just too much to know and my brain isn't big enough!

LOL funny you said that. I have skimmer Brain. Everything I'm learning about reefing is being dumped in my head. My brain must look like my skimmer did (and those are just the basics) . LOL

I think a lot of us fell the same way. There are times I go... oh I know that... ahhhhh... well, I used to know that. And then I have to go and look it up!

BTW, I just noticed you are in Windsor. I grew up just across the river in Detroit. My dad grew up in Stratford, Ontario and we had a tiny cottage on Lake Erie near Kingsville where I spent all my summers until I was 6.
