My Tank

Starting a thread to show progression. I have no idea what I’m doing. Winging it mostly from research and forming my own opinions.

100g(90? Idk)/20g sump & DIY Chaeto reactor from an old calcium reactor - 2 clowns, yellow tang, Molly Miller Blenny. Typical green algae growth. Nothing major.

29g frag/invert QT - Mostly Zoas and some Purple Stylophora, Cyphastrea and countless specimens of who knows what. Need a camera filter.

20g fish QT - Currently with a Royal & 6 line wrasse (the wrasse is nice and got him from LFS in a tank with others. He’s fine.)

Sunday 1/5/25:
-Get better camera shots with a filter
-Add parameters
-Vent my issues I’m dealing with

Flower garden, as of now. Although I may have to make one side of the tank less par intensive for a few corals I’d like to get.

Reef recording Sunday 1/5/25:

Have been caught in a gnarly blizzard today here in KC. Shoveled the drive twice and doesn’t look like it. Good time to work on the tank.

Reef update. Mainly concerns today.

Parameters: in photos. Can post cal and mag tomorrow.

Salt mix- TM Pro Reef with weekly 15% water change.

Fish QT: the 6 Line and Royal are doing well. Come out the 8th for the display. The wrasse is a torpedo. I will undoubtedly have an issue getting him out of the DT if he causes trouble lol.

This parameter has been stable since I spun up the tanks.
I don’t even have corals in the display. No visible coraline. I briefly read that other things can consume it. But almost 2 dKH in a week. New to me. Will be testing more often. I did start using a new reagent. Tested twice.
I use a 2-part dosing regimen.


Chaeto reactor - producing large amounts of oxygen bubbles. Not sure if I need to constantly remove the chaeto daily to get rid of them. The bubbles are not coming from the inlet hose. It’s growing so, whatever?

Phosphate control:
Have not figured out how much to run my GFO. Typically turn it on over night when it gets above 0.1, but don’t like the idea of a huge drop in phosphates. Going to research.

QT:
- Cyano issue it appears. They go away when the light goes off. Have dosed Chemi Clean.

-Bryopsis has made its way into the tank. It’s not too bad, yet. Dosed Fluconazole.

-spirorbid worms..have seen some scary photos of them taking over. They have arrived in last few weeks. Need to research that one. Have been scraping them off the glass. Don’t seem to be over taking the QT.


Goals: figure out my lights. Have two AI prime HD 16s for a 48x24x18. Will be using them on one side of the tank. Looking at supplementing them with a light bar. Maybe a 300w nicrew on the other side.
