my upgrade journal/journey

oh boy. they have a lot to pick from! ill have to figure out what to get. the end of mine must just pull off? or twist maybe?
There is a specialty tool, but it isn’t really necessary; it’s a ball and socket joint, a bit like your hip joint!

Assuming you just get two 3/4” Flex series RFG nozzles:

— just bend the existing nozzle over as far as the attached ball/socket joint can articulate, then keep applying pressure to pop it free!

— the RFG nozzle is made of a rubberized, flexible plastic, so it will pop on to the ball end of the LocLine fairly easily!

Tom Hanks Hello GIF

@Williamson’s Reef is a father and son outfit, and a vendor that I trust implicitly. In fact, I just dropped another order with Keith yesterday.
Good morning Matt, it was kinda an inside joke. We were both ordering a package at the same time. I told Keith I was taking the leap due to Jill’s endorsement. Just got my package yesterday.

Ahh, sorry. I didn't mean to stick my nose where it didn't belong, which I have a tendency to do.

ok another question. 🫣 all of a sudden i got worried about these titanium heaters. i have them laying flat in the sump so i dont have another accident like yesterday. but this sump is acrylic. can they melt the sump?

Not melt, per-se.. but they can definitely cook the surface pretty good!

— note the opaque spots on the yellow acrylic in this ancient sump I modified for my LFS; that’s all burn marks on the acrylic from direct contact with a quartz sleeve heater! (I was straightening the edges of the terribly cut openings via router here, hence all the plastic chips, too…)

— I’ve gone so far as to use rubber hole grommets and a pair of 1/8” polycarbonate rectangles, assembled on/around the heater to ensure it can never contact the plastic walls of The most recent sump I installed!

@Kraken Reef Josh makes awesome magnetic heater holders that'll keep them off your acrylic by hanging on to his. 😉

I just read on my thread that you posted pictures of your new coral on this thread. I was so excited but when I got here there weren’t any pictures. 😢 Were you playing me Jill? Not cool!

ok im still trying to figure out this sump. i know, i know. im really slow! there is a section that is filled with coarse curly platic stuff. is that in place of like bio media? or do i still need to get something else?

Can you share a photo of what it looks like?

I’m imagining either the red spaghetti of plastic that used to be seen in some trickle filters as bio-media, or possibly the coarse black plastic foam which is used for mechanical filtration!
