my upgrade journal/journey

Aah! this is mistake! Clearly I was tired/in a hurry when I looked at this plumbing!

So, your second membrane add-on kit is installed in reverse from the first one, hence the unusual plumbing here…

— First of all, I see zero flow restrictor on the waste line of the second membrane, so it’s basically non-functional! — you’d want both membrane waste lines teed together into one waste line/one flow restrictor, or a correctly sized flow restrictor for each of the two waste lines… (for now, I recommend teeing both waste lines together prior to your existing flow restrictor!)

— The pressure gauge is currently on the product water side of the RO membrane (blue line) this will never exceed 40PSI (automatic shutoff switch turns off water supply at 40PSI RO product water line pressure)… this is why it’s reading zero!

— the pressure gauge, and associated tee should go on the RED line, before it goes into the first RO membrane!

I’m shocked at myself for missing that! 🤦‍♂️
You've got good eyes

Disregard this… ugh… I really need to look at these things when I’m able to invest 100% mental energy…

— black waste lines and flow restrictor are correctly plumbed! — both RO membranes eject waste water through the black line with the flow restrictor already!

just swap the pressure gauge and associated tee to the red line, and you’re in business! (the red line that plugs into the RO membrane housing)

ok @UncommonSense , i got this T now where do i put it?
— The pressure gauge/associated tee fitting go on the red line, somewhere around the blue circle!

— the wye fitting circled in red is getting replaced with the tee fitting you acquired!

— the kinked blue line currently between wye fitting and pressure gauge tee fitting (red X) can be omitted completely!

(This fixes pressure gauge location, and gets rid of the kink in the blue line!)

this is what it is at when making water
Okay! So they actually factory preset the pump’s output pressure extremely low these days! (Likely because they get added to all sorts of mystery RO systems!)

If you’d like, I can show you how to get maximum performance out of this pressure booster pump? (Adjusting it to run closer to 85PSI; this will further reduce RO product water TDS [thus further increasing DI resin lifespan], and further increase water production speed!)

you mean adjusting the little screw on top of the booster pump?
Yup! Do so in small increments, with the pump off! — you’ll see the gauge move, corresponding to your screw adjustment, once you start running the system again!

Do not exceed 85PSI, though! — the filter housings are not designed to exceed that, and can rupture if you go nuts with pump pressure!

who knew there are so many different kinds of magnesium to buy!😵‍💫
Most of them are the same, just pick a brand you trust. I've used Brightwell and Fritz, no preference between the two.

in case i dont get to it tomorrow- happy thanksgiving to all you fine folks who've helped me out in so many ways!! a big thank you! (but dont go too far- im sure ill need you again! 🫣 )
