I'd come across a very sad-looking blob at a Petco in their "assorted" soft corals. The worker asked me a couple of questions and then said (more or less) "It's been here for months. You can just have it." Apologies for the quality. My phone's camera is at best "functional." and the tank is having one heck of an ugly start.

Every time I think I've figured out what it is I'll see a photo of a different type of leather and go "Wait, maybe THAT'S it?" Half the issue might be from it being stressed and sad for who knows how long. Any help is appreciated. The first photo was my attempt to get a clear shot of the sclerites. Wasn't too successful.
