It's been a few years since I've done any saltwater tanks. My last tank was a 75 gallon with softies, shrooms, ricordeas, and a couple of fish. Since I tore that one down to move, I've got a 110 extra high FW angelfish tank, a 75 gallon african cichlid (males) tank, a 20 gallon guppy tank, and a 10 gallon cherry shrimp and angelfish fry tank. Up until recently, I had a bearded dragon. When I sold him, I got a 5 gallon AIO tank. After adding some sand and (dead) live rock, I cycled it for about a month and then added a couple of snails and hermit crabs. I gave it another two weeks and made my first mistake: I added palys! Another two weeks and I got a zoa frag and some GSP. Last month I added a peppermint shrimp and the only fish I'm going to have: a clownfish. I upgraded my light last week in the hopes of getting some bird'snest eventually. It's been a fun experience!

Well, the K7 ended up being too bright even on 5%. My Zoas quit opening, so I switched back to the old light. Yesterday I added a new Zoa! The picture makes it look pink, but they're actually orange.

Added some Halley Berries and a green lepto yesterday! Didn't get a good picture of the Zoas (the ones in the picture are spitfires or bambams maybe).

Here's a picture of my Halley Berries... This is from the seller. I still haven't gotten a good picture in my tank yet.

Yikes! I just tested my water and found 20ppm nitrates and 340 calcium.

Edit: measured with API test kit.

welcome to Reef2Reef nice looking tank you have going.
Thanks! I'm trying to slowly get it going. It's one of 6 tanks in my house... The other 5 are freshwater though. I'm considering selling off my African Cichlids and converting my 70 back to a reef tank. That was my tank about 5 years ago, but it crashed when I moved and my wife made me tear it down. It's had my cichlids for about 3 years now, but the males killed all my females, so no breeding (the whole reason I got them).

Get that back to a reef for sure.
110 freshwater planted angelfish tank running two reef black box Leads, 70 gallon African Cichlid tank running Noopsyche K7, 10 gallon angelfish fry/red cherry shrimp tank and 20 gallon guppy tank sharing a Coralvue 48" strip LED, 15 gallon hatch/grow out angelfish fry tank running a fuge light, and my 5 gallon AIO reef tank... My wife wants me to cut back. She thinks I have a problem. I told her I have a solution!

If everything is right in your tank it will encrust over that very quickly.
I can't say everything is right, but the pavona, montis, stylo, and digitata are all doing good. Nice polyp extension and growing.

I looked yesterday evening and it's already started encrusting over the edge of the super glue. :D

Woohoo! Looking at my Eagle Eyes and they're sprouting a baby. My Hallie Berries, Eagle Eyes, and monti caps are all happy and growing. My stylo and digitata are doing good. I see new growth on them occasionally, just very slight. My pavona seems to be healing nicely after getting attacked by my Arctic Ice palys. I'm hoping my stupid Nuclear Dragon Eyes start opening back up soon. They just kinda peek out every now and then...

Added a spongodes and a monti setosa "officially". They've been in the tank for a little bit now but I finally mounted them.
