Hi everybody .. I had a cyano / diatom outbreak in my 5 month old nano reef. So, I combined water changes , manual removal and seachem stability for good bacteria. The cyan has died back almost gone but, I am left with a cloudy bacteria bloom on n my water column. Should I just leave it alone for a while now ? Is that my best next move ? Thanks :)

I'd stop adding bacteria.

Do you have a skimmer?
Yes , I did stop dosing. And I have a small tank I quit running a protein skimmer. My tidal 55 has a good surface skimmer. Should I put the protein skimmer back on ? I am running a little carbon but , I always have run carbon since I set it up. I was thinking of also , throwing a finer like filter floss pad in. It’s not terrible but, I’m tired from fighting the cyano lol. Bright side that looks better. I’m gna try to post a pic thanks for your response

As long as you are adequately aerating, a bacteria bloom is mostly an aesthetic concern and I'd just wait it out, Corals and other filter feeders can consume them. if it goes on too long, things like skimming or a UV can help.

Thank you. I avoided anything like chemiclean cuz , I wanted a more natural approach. It’s just the longer road. Thanks for the help. If it doesn’t show signs of improvement soon I’ll add the skimmer. Maybe I’ll go try to dig it out now :) have a great day

Perhaps consider to add an airstone.... bacteria blooms deplete the oxygen. And with no skimmer and minimum surface agitation, oxygenation would be a concern for me. Bacteria blooms pass in about a week, don't do water changes until its gone or you can make it last longer.
