Hi!

I'm new to reefing but I'm a long time freshwater fishkeeper. I owe to fishkeeping a lot of things like friendships, work and even my marriage! I met my husband through the hobby.

My first reef is a nano (almost pico, 6,6g) in my work desk, it's a very nice tank with rounded corners and built-in sump.

Filtration:
  • Built-in Sump with Seachem Matrix and OceanTech Nano Rings as biological media
  • Weekly partial water changes for maintenance of parameters
Lighting:
  • OceanTech Nour Plus Marine
Livestock:
  • Cloves "Red Sea"
  • Cloves "Papaya Golden"
  • Plate "Wagon Wheel"
  • Candy Cane "Kryptonite"
  • Mushroom Rhodactis from indonesia
  • Mushroom Rhodactis
  • Zoa Utter Chaos
  • Zoa Sunny D
  • Zoa Bloodsucker
  • Zoa Rainbow incinerator
  • Zoa Gorilla Nipples (maybe)

I've cycled it with Seachem Seed for about 1 month, with ammonia and nitrite tests almost daily.

The day my nitrite tested zero!

My RO/DI system, I use it in freshwater too.

My rockwork, that I slightly changed after adding more corals to have a better view of them.

First inhabitants! Cloves "Papaya Golden" and "Red Sea". I just love their "tiny hands"

A picture of how it is now:

Photography is another passion of mine, so I hope you enjoy some pictures of my Livestock. My plans are to cover the main rock with zoantids and having some assorted corals in the sandbed, like the plates and mushrooms. I plant to build a bigger tank so the mushs and candy cane may have a new home in the future, since my tank is so small.

Zoa/Paly? Bloodsucker

Your little tank is cool and all.. but why is this being featured?? It’s a brand new tank with a few easy frags that haven’t had time to do anything yet… best of luck

I've got 7 new frags from two online stores this week! I

One of them impressed me with the cleanliness and quality of the frags, the other not so much. I will add a small review of each frag. It's the first time I've bought online.

I think that I tave all the frags I need to fill up the rockwork, now I just have to be veeeery patient and wait for the growth.

1 - Alien Antivenom - Sent a larger frag which was nice. It photographs well but I was not very impressed with it in person. It is a little dull in color and I don't know if it will color up eventually

2 - Halle Berry - The colors are promissing but the polyps are on the smaller side. But I think it will eventually grow because i've seen them in a friend's tank.

coral zoanthus halle berry 20230623 _MG_6225 feed.jpg

3 - Rose Nebula - I was not impressed, it's being very slow to open, the colors are dull and the polyps are small. I hope it will grow and color up eventually.

4 - Blue Agave - It's beautiful! The corals of the second store starting with this one are larger and more colorful.

5 - Hawaiian People Eater - OMG gorgeous, my fav from this batch. It's like a green Utter Chaos and very eye catching in person.

coral zoanthus hawaiian people eater 20230623 _MG_6193 feed.jpg

6 - Pink Zipper - Beautiful, a little smaller than I thought it would be. I like the ones with larger polyps. But it may eventually grow.

coral zoanthus pink zipper 20230623 _MG_6206 feed.jpg

7 - Utter Chaos - FREEEBIE! The store sent this as a freebie and I was very happy because it's my fav. This one is different from the ones I have so I'll not place them together.
coral zoanthus utter chaos 20230622 _MG_6088 feed.jpg

I will decide where each one will be placed yet, but here is a pic of the tank as it is now:

Do you know the manufacturer of this tank? It looks like BioCube’s answer for a peninsula. I dig it.

Anymore eye candy? :star-struck:
Thanks for asking! :D

I do have new pics.

The tank as it is now. I'm very happy with it, the corals look good and are growing. I've glued most of my frags to the rockwork and I'm pleased with the result so far. I was mindful of colors and contrasts and I hope it looks nice when it fills up.

20230723_093753 feed.jpg

So, I went in a little shopping spree after a seller said he had some "Eye of Sauron" zoas and since I'm a Tolkien fan I drove almost 1 hour to see them. I was so disappointed to see that they actually were Mind Blowing Palys... beautiful but not exactly what I wanted. He had some nice zoas and I bought a couple of frags.

The Mind Blowing Paly. I plan on putting them on a new tank I'm building.

Candy Apple Mystic Green - my husband bought it for his tank but later decided he didn't like it that much so now it's mine

I suddenly have a SPS! A friend gave me a frag after he accidentally broke his huge Pocillopora. I'll eventually move it to a larger tank. I thought I was not a SPS person but it's growing on me, I call it my tiny tree.

And I added a little goby to my tank! He is so tiny right now but I know I may eventually need to move it to the bigger tank

As for the older frags, the Alien Antivenom is growing on me, its color is improving and it has a nice glow. (I've since removed that pesky aiptasia if you can see it)
