What are the benefits to mixing your own salt water vs using natural salt water?

Convenience, cost, and ability to have some attributes higher than NSW, as well as lack of potential problem organisms and ability to store long term (weeks) without concern for dying organisms are advantages of artificial mixes.

Do you suppose natural salt water could harbour pollutants in it as well?

I live in Australia in a large city.Been running my tanks with NSW but been having issues with algae ,I know that some of the rivers or at least estuaries around the city have mercury issues from farming run off.Not sure where this water is collected....

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
