I have a 75g with halide pendants...which blind the observer in the front.

I need a diy shield I can lower and push up easily.I'm thinking a tin sheet from HD, tied with strings and a pulley system?

But that's where it stops, dunno how to proceed next.

Pls advice if this system will work and what to buy in HD etc...cheap yet easy to use. This is my basement with wooden beams in ceiling.

Thx much.

How about a simple, four-sided floating hood? It doesn't need to go all the way down to your tank; it just needs to block the light at eye level.

+1 on the curtain, but turn it sideways to block the entire room. That will hide all those wires and other things. It will be reef only bliss.

Thanks all.

Since this is unfinished basement, looks don't matter much.

I do sit in front of DT in a chair. So something I can move up and down would be perfect....only in the front.

Since heat transfer might hurt,I don't want canopy.

Curtains might catch fire right lol.
That's why I mentioned tin sheet.

So a tin sheet sprayed black front isn't good on a set of pulleys?
It will also reflect back light to DT.

@kris2001 are you lighting flames near your tank? Curtains don't just spontaneously combust Lol. Tin sprayed would be fine, but it would also rust if splashed. Maybe spray an acrylic sheet with paint. Whatever you decide post a pic. We love DIY!
