Need experienced eyes on this one.

I’m giving my neglected tank some TLC and I’m seeing what looks like sand behind the seal.

Walls need a scrub, and the sandbed is due for some suction, so I’m rocking a terrible case of the ugliest at the moment.

But as I was scraping the glass, I was watching sand fall behind that black bit of the seal between the side wall and the floor of the tank.

How concerned should I be? RedSea Reefer 200xl bought in 2020, if that helps anyone.

Very! get some ratchet straps and a large rubbermaid tub now! Once that seal starts losing it stiction it is a very short time before the whole thing goes.
Trying not to be an alarmist... but your weekend just changed priorities.

search these forums for RED SEA FAIL, get an idea of how common it is for those tanks to seam rupture.

This is a seam on my reefer 300. I would be very alarmed if mine looked like yours.
The stand is wet, did you just wipe it off with something wet?

Best of luck. I have a seam failing on an older reefer 170 but it's at a top corner so not an emergency yet.

I had a 30g RS sump that had a chip in it I was going to fix that I got for free. Cleaning out the garage decided I never was.. It literally took about 3 mins to pull the sump apart. None of the silicone they use stuck. Being fair I don’t know how old the sump was or how being in my garage dry affected it. But when I rebuilt my IM 25 into a frag tank, I made a mistake, It took me a week of evenings to get that panel off and clean the silicone off. I used ASI silicone.
Probably not a priority right now for the OP, but rebuilding his tank would be an economical alternative.

Nope. That’s dried salt from what looks like seepage.

To truly make matters MORE interesting, the clowns just put eggs on the back wall of the Reefer. I noticed them for the first time today. One of them didn’t come up for feeding. Sure enough- guarding eggs.

I don’t think there’s anything I can do to transfer them. I’m sure they would have eventually been caught up in the filtration in the sump anyway, but it just feels like insult to injury at this point.

Yes, unfortunately it would have been live food for everyone. Don't worry, once things get settled they will lay eggs every 14 days again.
