Dear Reefers,

Requesting some direction to help move my 29G reef tank from one side of the living room to other (appox 10 steps). Any adivise on how I can do it without breaking anything? Or can only help move? I’m in Harrison NJ

Thanks in advance.

Easy, drain the tank, scoop out sand and remove rock. Place stock in bucket of old water. Move it, set it up again and back in biz. I wouldn't even bother with heaters in the buckets since it should be quick, like less than a hour, when the tank is void of its contents.

Reduce water levels as much as possible and get some rollers / pipe / tubing to roll the whole thing on.

If drain most of the water maybe able to lift without taking out sand. Store rocks in bucket for the time it takes. Sliders good idea too. I don't know about you but I can move a 55 gallon drum full if I try. Furniture moving pads probably would make it much easier. Just take some water out so it doesn't slosh out.

Thank you very much for the direction. Nice ideas, I’m gonna try draining 3/4th into buckets and move using furniture sliders. If this doesn’t work then to emptying everything and resetting(hopefully I don’t end up here).

Will update here how my move goes.

Thank you reefers for the tips. I successfully moved my tank today. I removed 10g (2 buckets) of water, then slided the shelf slowly to its new place and added the water back. It was not that hard thankfully :D
