Need help and tips moving my tank...

I recently moved in with my girlfriend, and now that most of the renovations are done, it’s finally time to move my aquarium. I’ve taken Thursday off for this, but I’m looking for some tips:

• Should I keep the existing sand or start fresh with new sand?
• I can put all the livestock in my 30 liter mixing container, or would it be better to divide everything into smaller plastic coral containers?
• How do I transport my floating scape? Most my corals are attached to it. I can lift the entire thing out in one piece, but I’m not sure what to put it in. I only have tall mixing containers, but if it stands up right I’m worried the scape might break in half...

Current plan:

• Fill jerrycans with aquarium water
• Remove the livestock from the tank
• Take out all the equipment
• Move the empty aquarium
• Move the cabinet with the tech
• Move the lifestock
• Reassemble everything

Luckily, it’s only a 20-minute drive...

It's up to you if you want to replace the sand or not. You will get people on both sides of the argument.
Since your drive is not that far, you will be fine to keep all of your fish in the mixing container!

When I did a tank transfer, as painful as it was, all corals were removed from the rocks, which obviously makes moving everything a lot easier, it's just hard to put back together afterwords.
