I agree, those are all good things to keep in mind when purchasing fish.

but; some of the best advice I've gotten; from a guy that sells fish, was to only buy it if you can see it eat.
having just experienced my 1st fish that died from not eating, I agree with him... And he was the guy that sold me the fish! :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

I would also consider the source (LFS vs internet)

I'm not sure you can say Tangs cannot be placed in smaller tanks (mainly because the tang type is not defined - nor is a 'smaller tank'. or it will lead to death.
