Over the last couple of weeks, these white growths have really started taking over our tank. White, solid but soft. Starts with a fuzzy growth and then grows little tubes. First few were all in darker places underneath overhangs, but now there are some in more open places as well. Fish (though we don't have any strict herbivores, so no surprise there) and snails don't touch it.

From the looks of it, I'm suspecting it to be a sponge, but would really love some confirmation.
If so, anybody know what kind? If not, anybody have an idea what it might be?

Any chance this is harmful to coral and needs immediate corrective action? Or can I manage this more slowly?

I strongly suspect that this is a symptom of having too many nutrients in the water, I think we have been overfeeding our Anthias. We feed them exclusively with LRS reef frenzy nano, dumping in pieces thawed in salt water. Is the best course of action to feed less and to look at ways to increase nutrient export (rowaphos?)?

Are there any critters that eat this stuff?
