Need help IDing this coral

Hi Al,,

I'm pretty new to reefing and need a little help. Does anyone know what type of coral this is? I'm leaning towards Favia. I only recently learned corals should be acclimated to new lights so it has seen better days.

I believe that is an acan coral. Favia will have smaller heads.

That's what I've been going back and forth on. It's hard to tell th difference based on pics online. I wonder if the care requirements are similar?

IMO they're both relatively easy corals as far as LPS come. I once bought a Favia when the store told me it was an acan and it's doing great. Medium light medium flow for me.

Micromussa lordhowensis for sure (better known as an acan). Favia won't don't seem to have nearly as much tissue/ polyp extension. Awesome corals!

Yes and no- Micromussa lordhowensis has larger heads than micromussa amukusensis. Acans lords where reclassified and are now member of the same genus so acan lords are now micromussa lordhowensis

Yes reclassified. Does not change what it is in my eyes or nature. Call it a daisy for all i care. Lol this forum is something special... Acan lords reclassified by the science world so now all our acan lords are micromussa and the micromussa are now what? Lol
