Get them they are a great 12-18 month value. It seems they go as soon as the warranty ends. My three and a few friends all had the same issue. Control dial dies out. Now that isn't the end of the world if it dies were you want it to, but if you are adjusting it regularly and it dies at a lower than desired setting...well you get the picture. I researched the snot out of them before buying. Everyone who owned them loved them. Everyone with high end called them junk. No where did I find a side by side. I now have AI Sol and they are way way way better, but $1600 vs $295 hard to justify that in my house. Only reason I got the AI was I bought a friend entire system spent 5 months piecing it out and my profits were the lights. Wouldn't have been able to do that if my friend wanted all the cash up front, oh I also kept his fish part of the deal so his son can come say hi to nemo and dori

My story aside I found them to be worth the cash, not comparable to high end lights but a affordable alternative a climate slowly!

I replaced 550w of ho/vho t-5 on a established 90g sps tank with two of those 165w evergrows-been 6 weeks very impressed growth tips remain on acros even cut and glued fresh frags to monitor growth all encrusted to plug within 10days and show good growth-still a bit skeptical- old school with my t-5/Mh set ups but cost of those systems kill me, a bit bummed about what Rob said about the dimmer pots but I plan on replacing with a two stage ramp up circuit -as far as acclimation I,m having a hard time Lol! corals seem to have no problem tho, point source-shadowing color banding takes a bit to get used to-John.

Just have to say the disposable LED Market is similar to the MH and T5 Bulb replacement market.

The Energy Savings of older generation Fixtures still makes them viable.

That said would not a $150 upgrade to primary parts be worth an extra year or two?
