Need Help on Coral Placement

So without thinking about corals , I made my rockscape with that large overhang very close to the top of the tank.......... what coral would/could/should I put on the over hang . Keeping it lps/softy no sps. All ideas are welcome

Do you have any idea of Par levels. What kind of flow would be in the high areas.

Depends on above answers a bit, maybe consider Lepto, Micromussa, Trumpet / Candy cane, “Brain coral”, Pagoda, and Duncan for different levels of needs and care.

I would consider planning an area for corals in the Euphyllidea family, if you like those LPS. They'll go in later but are aggressive and sweepers can reach 6" of so.

The par at that high is around 250 with the sandbed being 75ish, I run the orbit 4 for flow and can adjust that to whatever

For that top spot if you're getting 250 PAR, you may want to consider one of the easier encrusting SPS that can take that intensity of light. Something like an encrusting Montipora (rainbow or aquaman) or one of the Porites varieties.

Yeah I keep coming to that myself too, the power head is right there too for strong current so I doubt anything besides some easy to keep sps, hey what about bird nests , will they grow up or branch out and stay under water?

I've got my first birdsnest coming in a couple weeks. Honestly I don't think there's enough space for one in that spot.

You might also consider something like an orange Pavona. I've read they'll encrust, branch, and plate depending on flow. Probably less likely to grow up and out of the tank from there.

Lots of great encrusting SPS that would do well there too, depending on what aesthetic you're looking for.

To be honest I didnt want a demanding high maintenance reef tank so sps were just not in the works , I started it as a fowlr tbh. I dunno maybe I'll move the power head lower the lighting and just let gsp take over the entire tank lol

I'm still early on but so far my "beginner" SPS (Stylophora and Pavona) haven't been any more difficult than LPS or softies.

That said, GSP would look cool on that ledge too haha.

Yeah maybe ill just let gsp take over the two main rock structures and then put some acans on the sand bed and take the single loose rocks and glue some zoas everywhere
