So I noticed around 9pm est tonight, my water looked cloudy under the blue lights. I checked it out, and both my rockflowers were sticking up like umbrella's releasing white stuff, one milky, the other more clear? Now I've read that anem's can crash tanks when they spawn, do I need to worry about it with my ten galon and these two nems? The leathers in my tank look upset and one area of zoas's, everything else is out and looking good and fish don't seem to be having issues.

I'm just worried is all, since I don't have water done up right now for a water change till tomorrow. Should I change it? Should I go out and buy more carbon to put into the filter? I'm clueless, I've only been in the hobby of salt for 12 months xD And the tank is just that, 11 months going with stock.

@JustinMN , I don't think you have to worry.

You are right that your RFA is spawning. Males spew out sperm. And many people believe this happens around Solstice which is tomorrow.

The spawn is not toxic and won't crash your tank and I suspect some corals may even appreciate the organic material as food. I assume you have some kind of filtration on your tank and it should clear your water by today. You might want to clean any filter floss in use.

I wouldn't do a water change for another day. Give the corals a chance to get accustom to what's there and take it in if they want.

Thanks for bringing this up as another Reef Squad member (@Peace River) and I are working on a RFA breeding project. You are the second person to mention your RFA spawn yesterday. You may find some interesting info in this thread:
