Need Help With AOL Account Issues

A few hours ago, my AOL email began sending spam messages to random contacts and myself.

I do not know how to stop this. Some one please point me in some direction.

If you can log in to it you need to change the password.

Yea I still can log in, but it continues to send these messages. So I wonder if the spammer is somehow cloning my address, like the app that you can buy for some phones were it will show a different number than the actual number making the call.

Its sounds like you have a virus or "worm". Run your anti-virus software. If it continues to happen you may have to call the anti-virus software company and they may have to manually remove it.

I know a lot of people with this problem and had it once on one of my AOL e-mail accounts. At some point a spammer sent you a message from one of your contacts accounts and you thought it was from a friend so you clicked on the link sending you to a site selling something. That gave the spammer access to your account so now it is using your address to send spam to people in your address book and will continue mushrooming from there if they click on the link. The ones you are getting are probably coming from your friends who are infected as well. I found out what was going on when one of my accounts sent a message to another of my accounts that was in it's address book. I changed the password like Rev said and have not seen any more since. The next time you receive one, send the person that it appears to have come from an e-mail explaining what is going on and ask them to change their password so you don't get any more. It seems to be directed at AOL accounts as I have not heard of anyone having a problem with other free e-mail.
