Need help with fluconazole

Found some bryopsis, not a lot just a tiny amount right now. I bought some fluconazole it will be here later today. Are there any cons to dosing this? I only have a small amount, I've seen people use half the recommended dose (100mg for 10 gallons is the recommended and this person used 100mg for 20 gallons heres the video: Bryopsis cure) My tank is 25 gallons and I only have a few small patches of bryopsis so I think I'll dose 50mg by cutting the pill in half, will that work? If the bryopsis isn't fully eradicated how often should I dose?

With medication it is important to use the correct dosage. Under dosage is not likely to be effective for the desired effect but may negatively impact other species at the lower dose?

I have often had various algae growth in my tank that didn’t become a problem because the fish or cuc enjoyed eating the threat. No medicine or chemicals were required to eliminate the potential problem.

Same with flatworms, acoel have come and gone over time and don’t necessarily become present in plague proportions?

So, has the Bryopsis been a sudden plague or just present?

It has popped up throught the week. Normally I would agree with you on using livestock to clean algae, but bryopsis secretes a toxin that slows down coral growth, this toxin is also used against your typical cuc to stop them from eating it, so nothing eats it (except sea hares and sometimes Florida ceriths). So fluconazole is really the best removal method.

I used fluc for a nasty, sustained bryopsis outbreak.
No notable downsides other than the die off caused a BIG nutrient spikes that took some time to resolve.
Follow directions & you should be fine.
Just have some GFO to hand & do some hefty water changes after.
It certainly killed off bryopsis.
Had no effect on some Ulva & valonia though.

No effects on corals but the nutrients issue took a good month of heavy water changes to resolve.
I had a lot of bryopsis though & I'd tried everything else so it was worth it.
Horrible stuff.

From memory, mine turned grey to off white within 24-48 hours & dissolved.
It's probably worth siphoning as much as you can, or attempting to, within this period to remove excess.
I didn't unfortunately as treatment coincided with some time away from home for work

I fought bryopsis for a long time then finally decided to add fluconazole to my tank. I added just a fraction of the recommended dosage and it did a great job of getting rid of my bryopsis. I read about micro dosing in this thread.

Is it just a tuft? If so, maybe peroxide that bit and see if it pops up anywhere else.

Was just a tuft, now multiple tufts but the particular rocks it's on are ones I can't remove from the tank to use peroxide on so I decided this was the best solution.
