Need help with Identification

New setup tank (reefer 250) purchased tank and dry rock and live sand from LFS. One of the dry rocks doesn’t look so dry to me and has something growing on it. They look tubular with a bulb shaped top part. They also move around with the flow so they appear gelatinous. The same rock also has what appears to be a macro algae growing on it. Any help is appreciated, LFS is trying to convince me it’s coral but I’m not convinced.

They could be closed up zoanthids or palythoas. Protopalythoas in particular are very hardy and could easily be left behind on a rock.

That’s wild, I had no idea they could survive on dry rock. My LFS appears to be a decent one, just wanted to make sure they are a good visitor and not a future problem to be dealt with.

Keep us posted as they change, my opinion isn’t gospel. But yeah, I’ve seen those protopalythoas last as much as a day or two out of water.

Absolutely, I’ll keep an eye on them
