How tall is the tank? Do you intend to keep coral or is this fish only? If coral, do you have a sense or what types?

Tank is 28" tall internally, top of the rock on the left side (end of the video) is the highest point and about 5" below where I think the water should be.

I am planning fish and soft corals, maybe lps, not really interested in SPS at this time (want to keep things simpler).

Cool. Fire away. If you were doing SPS I would say you need to leave 8-10 inches of free growing space across the top. Enjoy!

I like all the arches and "features" on those rocks are nice.

Are those the carib sea rocks? I got mine used locally, but really considered the pink rocks after watching BRS videos. These look really good.

I like how the island looks pretty tall as well. Trying to work something like that it to mine.

yeah man, they are the Caribsea Liferock shapes, totally worth it, they fit together good in so many ways and the options are pretty unlimited. they shipped well too, I didn't have to make any repairs on them upon arrival.
thanks for the compliment, I will try and snap another picture tonight, we are going to move some things around in there to see what it looks like behind the glass.

Wow, tons of space! Your scape will leave lots of space above for things to grow up.

My only concern would be trapping detritus between the rocks in the stacks. At first you will be able to open it up for cleaning easy enough but once you have a bunch of corals growing maybe not so easy.

Welcome some tips for a peninsula -- 80cm long, 40c wide, 50cm tall.

rock on the left has to stay since it's from the former nano tank. Tried to make distinct 'islands' and on the center rock have caves/hollows.

Thoughts on removing this flat back rock in my tank? Im thinking about opening up the right side of my tank, then moving back the big frog spawn colony. Will it be ok to remove the entire rock without any negative effects? The tank has been up since August.

I should probably ask first if you plan to have a lot of SPS or not. If so, they need room to reach upward. I left them too little room and they don't do well at the waterline.

Second is visual. In my case, there is no seating near the tank. Standing, you cannot see the top third of the tank, right were all my beautiful expensive sticks are. When I take pictures (or just look at them) I have to take a knee.

My worst problem was flow -- but this was made worse because I stacked against the back wall. You have likely solved for that by clearing the back wall and taking the rock "islands" approach. Think about where your powerheads are going to go and position your islands accordingly so the water can move. Most powerheads need to be several inches below waterline else they vortex air in and cavitate.

All your scape ideas are visually quite nice. Just trying to give you some practical ideas to think about.

How about this one? They are the same aquascape but I took pictures from different angles. I am thinking to not include the small one at the front. I think it will be cleaner look without the small one.

Looking good. Agree the single rock in front isn't working for me. I would take a hammer and chisel to it, breaking it up into 3-6 smaller pieces that will lay on the sand bed, the largest up against the stack with each one getting successively smaller as it "grows" toward the front of the tank. Think if it like a "root" growing from the base of the stack. Hard to explain, but I have seen it several times. Adds to "depth of field".

Very good idea but I don’t think so have it enough front space.

Thinking about using 1” pvc cut to 1” length to make give “floating” sense and also it will be less detritus trapped under the rock. It also will saved me money instead of buying eggcrate. What do you think?

All of my base rock is suspended on 1/2 acrylic rod so I am with you there. Sand shoving gobies can do their thing and nobody gets hurt. And yes, I do blast my sand with a powerhead at each WC.

Now what do I need to use to glue the pvc pipes to these rocks? Can I use Nyos cement to fill in the pvc and then glue it to the rocks?

I am sold. You might need more weight on the left side of that cantilevered stack. UR leaving lots of good growing space up toward the light. Good on you. I failed to account for that and am paying the price now.

Well thanks!! Yeah the plan was to have lots of open space. On the rocks, im planning on using a very thin and discreet acrylic rod. Hope it will do the trick. If not, I plan on glueing more rocks to the base.
