So, new to the hobby, decided to go with TBS for rock and sand. Since i can't pull it out for long to attach pieces together, i'm left with friction fitting pieces together. This is what i came up with. Suggestions? I'm considering swapping the substrate maybe a 1/4 section at a time here in the near future once it completely cycles to something like carbisea's special grade. e

You almost have an Iwagumi shape there. A full iwagumi would look more like this.

I would swap the substrate with white sand.

I was suggesting adding a small rock at the front to make the 2 sides of the scape have different depths.

If you need rock at the back, I would add it to the right side instead of the left. Heavy on the right, lighter on the left.

Ok so I added some rocks to that spot. They would still need to be epoxyed together i think. The rock on the left is one large unit so the best I could do is chisel it away. Should I do that? Thanks for the help!

Do YOU like it? I thinks it's very interesting as it is.

If there's something you don't like about it, tell me what it is and I can try to suggest alternatives.

At first I was not sure but honestly Im diggin it. Looks much better than what it was first. I think I will fill some of the conection points with small rocks to make everything look seamless. Then it will be to my satisfaction. Thanks again! :)

That path right at the centre is splitting the layout in 2. If you move that path a few inches to either side, it will work much better.

If the path is in a diagonal and or has curves, the tank will look deeper.

The 2 Islands have approximately the same height. It will look more interesting if they're more different.

That toadstool is too big to be left isolated into that corner. I would try to incorporate it more into the layout.

I was thinking that it was getting to big for my tank. Maybe I should trade it in for something smaller.

Have you tried putting it at the back?

I am wanting to red mine. It consists of 4 rocks right now. 2 archway type rocks and 2 solid rocks. I am not opposed to adding more rock or breaking some of it up. I want to try and keep as much original rock as possible so I don’t create a mini cycle. I want something a bit more natural looking. Thanks

It is a 29 gallon tank.

It's not going to be easy to make those changes because you already have lots of corals.
