Here goes, just set this up. Mainly SPS dominate but anemone in the left hand corner on the rock in the corner (hole drilled)
Would the front most left rock fit nicely on the top of the right structure just to lift it slightly. I like it tho nice variation of size between left and right

Thoughts or feedback on this? Tank is a 40 breeder, coming up on just a year now since started.

For both of you guys, looks pretty tight is there any flow getting in there? May become a detritus and nitrate trap...

Hello everyone, after fighting with the rear AIO system of the biocube 16, over buying corals on boxing day and all these fluval evos poping up on market place my girlfriend and I are planning to build one each. She doesnt have an account but is looking for some advice. She wants more than anything to have an arch. We're going to split our current tank and she's just looking to have some zoas, LPS and softies.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to marine tanks, but have finally been able to join the hobby after recently moving and giving me the space for the tank I always wanted.

I ordered a Red Sea Reefer XXL 750 that should arrive mid January time, but in the meantime I've been practising different aquascapes on a cardboard cutout of the same dimensions.

Reading around and watching various YouTube videos, I've basically tried to:

- limit the height to no more than 2/3 of the tank, whilst making the left longer structure slightly longer.
- tried to avoid creating dead spots for flow (although there are a few caves built in)
- add as many overhangs and tunnels as possible
- then tried to just balance the whole thing overall aesthetically.

If I've made any major mistakes or anything I'd really appreciate some feedback? My plan is to run a mixed reef with easier to keep corals and reef safe fish, plus a smaller collection of cuc.

Thanks guys!

Just picked up this 265. Has tons of very large rock. Never scaped a tank this large for i just started the hobby with a 40B, then a 75, now a 265(was a good deal so now i never need to upgrade again haha.....). I do not have any ideas currently but i will post my rough draft when i get ready to start adding substrate and the aquascape.

Note: this was the previous owners layout the tank is currently dry and the rock is being climate controlled appropriately to keep the bacteria alive.

Any constructive thoughts on if this scape could be tweaked or improved.. I tried my best to incorporate most of the composition rules, I am pretty happy with it, but looking for input @Ardeus if I have missed something or there is any glaring issues with the layout.

Hi all, hope everyone around the world is well! Need some advice on my aquascape! I think I have too much rock work! But I'm unsure how to 'lose' some?? I was going to take a few bits out but I feel bad for the creatures living on them (stars, worms etc) also, how do I go about choosing which bits I keep? My star piece of aquaroche is just sat in the back not really in the spotlight. Tank is 275l cube (so its a pain in the neck to scape!) All advice welcome:)

So my WB is still a few weeks away from delivery but I got my CaribSea rock yesterday and started playing with some scape ideas.. this will be in a Marine X 110 - 48"x20"x22"

Any thoughts/critiques are welcome!

Front view - lots of area for swimming, largest peak is about 8" below the waterline
1611686714770.png

View from the front/left. two separate structures with a canyon in between
1611686792157.png

Side/Right view from rear. Inner rectangle is my allowable scape area, outer rectangle is the tank - there's plently of room to fit in scraper or my hand to get at the glass with a razor (my preferred method, I could never get good results with a scraper)
1611686979491.png

Top view - plenty of area for swimming. I'm putting my Yellow tang in this new setup, I want to add one more tang. They will be the largest fish.

Thanks in advance for all comments!

I decided on “Island Sanctuary” because I’m artistically challenged.
The two top rocks are not secured correctly, the putty did not hold. I’m planning on reattaching them soon, but wanted some feedback first.

I really like your layout. Especially how you created the "alley" between the left and right rock groups.

thank you Mike!

I got my the last box of my shipment today - the CaribSeas nano arches... I used all of them and replaced the "clunkier" base rocks at the top of the largest structure and the right end of both structures. It's a subtle change but it's a nicer look IMO.

I followed a lot of the suggestions in this thread... avoided obvious horizontal and vertical lines and went with a larger/smaller structure setup. One of my goals was to have a structure that will allow plenty of waterflow. My pumps will be on the rear of the tank so the flow will be over the top and then across the front and through the structure as the current hits the front of the tank.

BTW - I ended up not using any of the base rock - this structure was done with just the Shapes and Nano Arch CaribSea rocks. I am going to put a piece of cardboard mirroring the size of the back wall to get a better idea of how large the space on top of the structures will be.

Hi Pandry, I used the same rock and have a similar layout. From the front it looks like one island, I would suggest not overlapping to add the negative space in the middle so it looks like two islands.

So I put some separation between the two structures that is visible from the front of the tank and I like the look. I did like the "alley" in my original design but it was mostly visible from the top. This design is more pleasing when looking from the front, where it will be viewed 90% of the time. Rock is going into new trash bin today to begin cycling. To help in re-creating this structure for the DP I have some plastic security ID tags I bought on Amazon. Each is uniquely numbered, they will zip tie to the rock and I will label each rock in the picture with the corresponding tag #. Got 100 for about $15 - I can actually use these when traveling too...

Thanks for the advice Wolf!

OK, so here is my possible scape... Honestly, I am not particularly thrilled. I have tried to follow "the rule of 3rds" and allow room for flow/cleaning. I simply think that the rock I got is too large, and limits my ability to create the scape I see in my minds eye. Any opinions?
