Need quick advice

I am about to purchase a 100 gal reef tank center over flow 60"x 18" x20". Some call this a show tank. What is a show tank?

I am worried about the tank only being 18" in depth and 20" tall. Will the shortness of the tank cause a sheer rock cliff? I don't like the straight wall look.

But it is a great deal.

As for the "show tank"...really no such thing unless its a gravity tank. I think those are cool.

What you put in your tank and how you take care of it will determine if its a show tank for you or not.

Id worry about thedepth too. But i think that it depends on what you want to do with your aquascape. You should think about your water flow too

I too have a five foot custom tank....but only 90 gallons......and I like it. Everyone who looks at it thinks I have a much bigger tank. It's decieving. Not the greatest picture....I only have a point-n-shoot camera.

18" is how wide a standard 125 is too. You can do a lot with the right rock work.

Really? Every tank that I have seen that is 18" from front to back looks like a sheer cliff with no gradual climb

You can do a lot as stated with how you place rockwork. The reason it's a show tank is the 3 sides being starfire low iron glass for crisp viewing. That being said it's still how you stock and maintain to say if it's show quality lol. ;)

I thought 18" deep is pretty normal lol. My tank is 60"x18"x24" with two corner overflows

Smaller pieces of good porus rock and a few shelf pieces and 3 days. You'll have some sick rock work.

Or three bigger islands, or 3-5 Nice pillars. It would be an awesome tank!

Make a tape tank on the floor and stack rock to see if you can remotely get what your looking for.

Your tank is closer to 84 gallons if its 60 x 18 x 18

It could be I guess. For forty years I always thought it was a 100 gallon tank as it was advertised when I bought it. But I never bothered to measure it for actual gallons.
