Dosing system: All for Reef is most simple but can get expensive if you have a lot of coral. 2-part like ESV Ionic is a nice middle ground of simplicity and cost. A 3-Part is the most economical if you DIY or you could buy one of the many off the shelf systems like Modern Reef, Tropic Marine, Nyos, etc.

Nutrient control: I prefer to have the coral be the nutrient export. I run a cryptic refugium (ie, no lights or algae) and no algae reactor and still keep nitrate at 5ppm (requires dosing of ammonia) and phosphate at 0.10 ppm by not over feeding and with a Reefmat, protein skimmer, and weekly water changes.

Do you have any recommendations for clean up crew for my 40g I was thinking

🧹 CLEANUP CREW
* 4× Trochus Snails
* 3× Nassarius Snails
* 2× Cerith Snails

But I don’t know if that’s to much or too little and I might want some more interesting options

If it was me I would probably add 6+ other type of snails and/or more of the Trochus/Cerith. You can also just scale up CUC as the tank matures. So the above is probably okay to start with whenever you start adding livestock and turning on the lights for the tank.
