Hi all,
My tank is only 4 months old and I get the ugly stage side of things but I think mine has gone too far to be part of "the ugly stage" and I believe I have a problem
To start my parameters all using Hanna kits and backed up with salifert:
Phosphate: 0.05
Nitrate: 0
pH: 8.2
Salinity: 1.025
Alk: 8.1
Calcium: 425
Mag: 1325
I have:
6 Astrea snails
6 Turbo snails
2 conch snails
2 clowns
Firefish
Royal gramma
Cardinal
Pistol shrimp
Watchman Goby
Copepods
I have been religious at doing 10% water changes every week, testing 3 times a week, I have started to siphon the sand everyday as suggested by someone but the pictures below are what comes back 12 hours later.
I have been overfeeding massively in an attempt to get nitrates up to no avail I am feeding a mix of frozen, flake and pellet, my skimmer has been turned off for 2 weeks, I have bypassed the reefmat for 8 hours a day with no luck.
My GSP and hammer both look great and have been in about 4 weeks.
I went to my LFS for advice who sold me a bottle of neophos, used that for a week and other than bottom out my phosphates to 0 it did nothing, they then sold me nopox but upon reading up I have been reluctant to use it with 0 nitrates. Getting the feeling they are just trying to make some £££ out of this.
To the point, I'm after some of your experience please to help understand what I am dealing with and what I should keep doing, stop doing or start doing to help.
TIA
