Need some advice

Ok I'm about to start a 125 fish only. I'm really wanting this tank setup in my game room which is on my 2nd floor. I am not sure if the floor will hold it so here is where I need the advice. What is the easiest way to reinforce the floor without running anything through my ceiling? Because I am just thinking a 1 inch sheet of plywood under the whole stand to try go put the weight through an area of 6 foot instead of just the legs. Any information on this would be great so I don't have to just set it up and hope for the best

I would use the plywood this will spread out the Weight But make sure it goes across Your main beams Otherwise could be risky good luck

Well a 125 is only 1400lbs. If it is a game room, it should be capable of holding this easily. You can always check with plans/blueprints and check the floor joist size or see what is being used to calculate how much the floor will hold. Plywood will make 0 difference in distributing weight since you already have ply-wood creating a sub-floor spreading out the weight to the joists.

Make sure you put it up against a load bearing wall.

Yeh it is going on an outside wall and blue prints are a no go the house is almost 100 years old but the room next to it is holding a 75 with a 30 gallon sump and a joining 55. My only concern is a tank this big with a 75 gallon sump under it bowing the floor in until it breaks a beam

The plywood should work. You also have to put sand and rock into account so you may be looking as as much as 200 more pounds.

Yeh but I figured with about 150 pins of live rock and about 50 pounds of sand it's with drop about 20 gallons of water if not more

Not knocking your house at all, but if its as old as you say it is. I can guarantee you they built it without even knowing what a fish tank was. Let alone a reef tank. You should defiantly look into reinforcing the area where the tank will go.

My reef tank has been running about 8 months now and I've always had tanks. Just never had 1 this big in 1 place my other room is right next to it and it a 75 reef tank and a 55 fish only holder until this one is running. I was just trying to be safe setting this one up so I wouldn't have to year it down later own. Thank you everyone for the advice it has prey well given me an idea on how I'm going to do this
