Need some computer advise

On Saturday my power went out for a few minutes at my house and when it came back on my desktop computer wouldn't start back up. I have no idea what to do. All my music and downloads are all on that computer and also all my photo editing programs. Anyone have any ideas on how to get it to power up?

Sounds like you blew your power supply .... in the back of you computer there is a box built into your computer with a fan and an on off switch (I/O)... that's your power supply. Just take it to a computer repair shop and it shouldn't cost more than $60. $40 for the power supply and $20 for the guy to change it. Of corse that's in Jersey and I have no idea where you are. But it shouldn't matter too much.

Yea sounds like a power supply to me as well, if you can get to a PC I would order one from Newegg.com you will get a better price then local and I would suggest that you get the highest watt you can this way you can upgrade stuff later without having to get a new power supply to power any new upgrades and fans that you install.....I have delt with this 2x over the last few years. They are real easy to change out so I wouldn't pay someone to do it, you can do it yourself....

I would guess power supply also.
The same thing happened to me last fall.
One of the cheaper pc fixes I've had to deal with.

Yea change it yourself. Just open the computer case, unplug it, unscrew a few screws and it's out.

I would have told him to change it himself as well but I went out on a limb that if he didn't know it was a power supply problem then chances are he's not gonna have an easy time fixing it, even if it's an easy fix. No offense to JG.

And if we're wrong about the power supply then the guy at the store will know better looking at it. Just my 2cents.

Thanks for all the help so far - that does sound like an easy fix. Can someone show me what power supply to get? I also might need some help doing the change over.

Make sure you comp is plugged into a quality surge protector. Could sae your whole computer one day.
BTW, make sure you get a power supply with blue LED's. They run cooler. :D :hammer:

Take out your powersupply and let us know what the label says on top. Then we can pick out one with appropriate connections.

Do you have a volt meter? You could test out your power supply to make sure that's the problem before looking for and getting a new one.

I don't have one here but I can get one from work. There is a green light that blinks on the side of the power supply when its plugged in. Not sure if that means anything.
