Need some help installing gate valve on Red Sea MAX S-650

Just an update. I got my gate valve fitted onto my downpipe.

Here's what it looks like

So do you feel like this modification was worth it? I am still debating.

I think it'll make things a lot easier to maintain because the old stock valve is behind the tank, so having this in the sump area already will make that part easy. Besides that I THINK it'll make it easier to fine tune the flow. Also easier to clean from what I remember reading in another thread. The stock valve is a nightmare from what I can tell.
