Hello, I am curious to hear your opinion on adding a tang to my mixed reef. I have been battling (well actually they're just winning and I'm battling) with Amphidinium dinoflagelletes for awhile, the type that make the sandbed brown. In an effort to beat them I have been dosing to raise my Nitrates. As a result, I have gotten a slight cyanobacteria breakout along with what I think is some hair algae starting to sprout up. I am confident the cyano bloom will be temporary and happened because of the increased dosing. I have never dealt with hair algae but have heard the horror stories of others fighting it. Because of this I am considering adding a Tomini Tang. My LFS has a healthy (visually) one that is quite small, about the size of a silver dollar or a little smaller. I have a personal "visual" thing where I don't like fish that get to large, or out of scale as much as possible with my set up which is a 90 gallon display. I have only added fish with a max adult size of 3 inches or less. However, I do not want a battle with hair algae either. I understand Tomini stay the smallest in the tang world, does anyone have experience with these in terms of aggression? and if it clears up the hair algae (there is not that much at this point) are they easy to keep healthy with prepared foods? Any opinions welcome. BTW I have a mixed CUC of Turbo, cerith's, trochus, astrea, and blue leg hermit crabs already. They don't seem to do anything with it. Thanks.
