My flame angel nips at all my sps so it needs to go back to the LFS. Catching it will be a chore but I was wondering what I should transport it in? I was thinking a 5 gal bucket with about 2 gal and without a lid.

the store is about hour+ away. Temperatures outside are mid 70’s.

does this sound reasonable or is there a better way?

That sounds like a plan. I'd use a lid so water doesn't slosh around. Side note, my cousin lives in Discover Bay. He's a barefoot water skiing legend.

Quart chinese food cup or small ice cream pail works well

With over an hour of driving is that enough oxygen with that size? I think I’m going to use the 5 gallon bucket and just need to find a lid
Yes - dont fill container to the top- 65% water and 35% air

I would just bag it up like my LFS would. My LFS is a 3 hour drive one way, I just have them put my fish in a larger bag with plenty of water, and I place them in a cooler.

We ship fish across the country/world this way, why try to reinvent the wheel?

I posted this on my build thread but wanted to follow up here.

it took two hours to catch the fish. Unfortunately it wasn’t a smooth process at all and the fish ended up getting injured so I’m bummed.

I drained the water down to a few inches and took out 75% of the rock. the angel ended up swimming into a small Hole in a base rock. It literally got stuck and wouldn’t come out. Ended having to break the rock to Get the fish out. In the end the angel lost most of its tail fin And was clearly stressed.

I took the fish to the lfs and it’s done. Glad it’s over.

it’s been three days since the angel has been removed and I’ve seen three sps corals with polyp extension during the day. So far so good.

To transport, I ended up using a gallon pitcher 1\3 full inside a five gallon bucket. No lid.
