I purchased this hybrid powdered blue tang.
This is what they send me instead.

I keep telling this vendor from Miami that this is not a Hybrid
I was expecting the same one he has posted up for sale, which was more like this one.

THe vendor reached out to SDC and they confirmed that the one he sent me was a
PB Hybrid.

I don’t think it is.

What you think ?

Unless it morphs, somehow, they are not the same.

Do you see any yellow on the anal fin and/or tail? Most powder blue hybrids are crossed with gold rim tangs. There is always some variation between hybrids, but every PBXGold Rim I’ve come across has some yellow on the anal fin and the tail. A pure powder blue’s anal fin will be white, and the tail will be white and outlined in black. The blue on the hybrids tends to be deeper too. Regardless, it’s a beautiful fish. It doesn’t look emaciated like so many other powder blues that come in, but I understand you didn’t pay for a regular powder blue. If you just placed it in the tank, see what it looks like when it settles. I’m thinking it’s either a pure powder blue, or it may be a hybrid that is expressing more powder blue traits than a gold rim’s. If you bought it online, I would try to purchase things like this only if they’re labeled WYSIWYG.

It kind of has yellow on the tail.
And I might see a hint of yellow in her anal fin? She might color up, and show better colors. It’s hard to say if she will get more yellow or develop the white cheek. If she’s a hybrid, it looks like she inherited more traits of a powder blue than that of a gold rim. She’s still a beautiful fish.
