Hello,

I am trying to calibrate my apex pH probe. After calibrating in pH 10 solution I keep the probe in the pH 10 and apex reads between 9.0 - 9.7 after calibration.

I calibrate pH meters as part of my job, why is it saying the pH 10 is in acceptable range if the pH10 solution is actually 9.0?

I suspect the buffer is bad, but if the buffer is bad the apex should fail calibration no?

Picture is of after successful calibration with probe still sitting in 10 solution, it should read 10.0 because that is what I told the machine it is.

help?

Your solutions are 4 and 10? I would suspect a faulty probe. Do Manual calibration, do not use calibration Task...

Buffers 7 and 10, using a brand new
probe.

what do the values mean when manual calibrating? Does for example , 765 mean 7.65 pH?

I think so. Just wait until it reads 100% on the meter, and the number stays stable for a few seconds.

Not sure why your graph indicates 5.77 when you used a 7 reference?

Yes I did that, and it’s not close to the buffer solution, but it should calibrate to the buffer.

After calibration at 7 it thought the 7 was 5.77

The 7.0 buffer “value” is 577 and 10.0 is 907. Which I’m seeing now relates to the pH, however after calibration it should make the pH 7.0 and 10.0 but it’s staying at 907 as the probe in pH 10 is 9.07 after calibration

It’s part of the calibration process. I’ve never had it show 7 in the 7 or 10 in the 10 but probe works properly after calibration.

Yes correct, before calibration it should not read 7 or 10 and that is why you calibrate.

After calibration though your probe should read 10 in the 10, if it doesn’t it didn’t calibrate

During Manual calibration you are to select your reference pair, did you select the 7 10 pair, or the 4 10 pair?

7 and 10, there is no 4 and 10

Has your buffer expired?

No, but I agree this could be it, however what is happening does not explain bad buffer. Even with bad buffer I should
Be able to calibrate but have a “bad” calibration

If there is no 4 10 option, your Apex software may need an update. Here is my current version...

These steps fixed the issue. Reading 696 in ph7 and 996 in pH10.

For the ones saying that it should not read the buffer after calibration I recommend these steps because your ph is off. After calibrating it should read exactly or very close to 10.0 in pH10, that is how calibrating works :)

How do I get access to APEX local? Seems like this is a great fix but hard to follow all steps. A bit more details would be great. Thanks!

I used the iOS app for all steps.
