I need some help editing my programming. I have a ups connected to my apex and I have a whole house generator. The generator automatically starts and restores power within 2 to 3 minutes. I currently have everything except my return pump set to shut off when I lose power but I want to add a delay so everything except my heater stays on for at least 5 minutes on the ups before turning off. If the generator doesn't restore power within 5 minutes that would mean there is a problem with it and I'd want to conserve battery power for the return pump as long as I can. I read through the timers article but I'm having trouble understanding how to add the "defer" line to get it to do what I want. Attached is a screenshot of the programming I have for my lights.

One other issue I'm having is when I originally set my apex up to turn everything except the return pump off and tested it, it worked perfectly. When my power goes out now the return pump is also shutting off until my generator restores power. I'm hoping to get some insight as to why that is happening, I've attached a screenshot of my return pump programming also

Side note, Should range bound your heater command . Or put on and off defers in it. That coding would case excessive outlet switching at 80 degrees if temps hang around at that level.

As for your power command Move your if power command to a virtual outlet. and put the defer command in that. You can not add it to your main outlet otherwise all your commands will become deferred. Afterward add the vo in place of the “if power”

Vo name (delays outlet from coming on for 5 mins after power is tripped.

Set off
If power apex off 000 then on
Defer 005:00 then on

Main outlet last line
If power state VO Name on then off

As for your pump remove the if power if you don’t want it turning off during an outage.
