So it was announced that the huge project i was working on and had a crew one cant have us back for 3 weeks at the min but could be as long as 8. I keep hearing about a stimulus package coing or whatever but some guys are barely getting by. I know most of us reefers are a little more well healed than your average day laborer but none the less this is going to several hurt th economy and because this is a hobby its likely that it will also suffer pretty badly after years of growth. I am curious who is able to keep the doors open and whats going to happend to pricing across the board, livestock dry goods you name it. And i can already predict all of the poor folks who are going to have to sell their stuff to make ends meet. Its a shame. Stay safe

I'm sorry about the loss of business, this is going to effect our economy for years to come. Good luck to you and people close to you.

This is definitely going to hurt the mom and pop aquarium stores. I know that a lot in my area are shutting down to foot traffic. It's a shame, but every hobby feels expansions and contractions. Just make sure that you reach out to the local stores first if you need anything during this contraction. I know they have skeleton crews keeping fish and coral alive and trying to sell what they can.

Several members of our FB group are already selling off their tanks due to this which is very sad. Many were avid reefers and others were skilled newbies just taking off. I'm headed to the LFS store to get salt and some other items to show support and also stock up just in case. Hopefully your local reef community can help you out. Best to luck to you.

All three of my LFS are closing. I went over to stock up on food and salt. I hope they are all able to recover from the loss of business and are able to open the doors again.

Good idea. Most LFS are working on very slim margins on goods and livestock. They make most of their money on volume and service/maintenance if they do that.

I'll be reaching out to my LFS for acquiring more livestock and drygoods.

I went out on monday, and bought food from a local LFS close to the house. Not my normal shop, but they carry my foods, and its closer. I use them alot for dry goods so i dont drive the hour to my normal ones, and with The Tornado's here i couldn't get there for a while due to the damages up there. Im hoping my sale helps them survive.

Manager of a large locksmith here in NC. BS is not really here yet so we are open and its business as usual. Even though I am a long time reefer we all (7 of us here) live pay check to paycheck. Not really worried, the world keeps a turning. Set up some safes in show room to hold TP and Lysol and have been selling them left and right. I dont want to say this business is recession proof but it kinda is. Business is good!! Goog luck and YEEEEE HAW!!

So ive been told to stay home from work for the next 4 weeks and possibly longer. Being that its an odd limbo zone of not being unemployed and not be allowed to go to work a financial disaster is something that I would think would be impossible to avoid. I know there has been trillions of dollars erased from the economy already and quite likely so much more its almost unimaginable at this point. The sickness isnt what worries me its the break down of civility when people start getting hungry Friday when they dont get pay checks. I understand that there is going to be a direct stimulus of cash to citizens but that still could take several weeks. That of course will help briefly but only a small band aid in the long term. I also find it pretty amusing that the current plan basically equates to universal basic income at its simplest most bare iteration and that its being championed by a republican. Its needed and appropriate for an event like this but its the little things like that that are ironically funny to me.
I have so many questions in my head about the possible outcome of this crisis. Mostly concerning banking, credit, and rental rights. I usually am not as pessimistic about things but for some reason i cant help but think that this crash is going to make 2008 look like candy land walk in the park. In a few weeks i think ill be much more afraid of my neighbors than of sickness. Any one else have predictions or thoughts on the future of the economy and financial system?

We are online, I am just worried about how ling of a duration this will last for. I will ship as long as FedEx is up and running, and I can use UPS if I have to. I have spoken with BRS as well, and they don't plan on any disruptions right now. If the 2 LFS here close down, then hopefully I will be able to help out. A lot of businesses are also offering curbside pickup as well.

Pennsylvania has been ordered to completely shut down. It will start Saturday at 12:01am.
The company I work for will shut its doors tomorrow at 3PM. I should be go for a long while. Mostly because I didnt listen to our leadership in gov and listen to real scientists. I started packing early February.

But man I know guys that are really going to be hit hard. I feel sorry for their kids. It's all so sad.
I wish everything would just go back to normal.

My wife and I work for the same company, and thankfully, were all working from home, and we serve the healthcare industry, so business is still good. Weve cancelled our confrences etc, but continue to chug along. However im finding things in the house to keep me busy.

Weve started the living room remodel, which leads to my new build. Wife bought me a new tank for Christmas so up it goes after that is complete. Today's project... move her bio cube out of the way and into my office. BRs delivered another piece of equipment for that yesterday so im sure at somepoint ill start messing with that.

You're not kidding. A lot of my family is in PA and I've been on the phone with them all morning. Lots of people are really stressed out. Let's hope for the best!
