New 150 Gallon Tank

I love sand too👍 funny you said critters because I named my tank Critter Reef. Gotta love them critters🤠

So my tank has a lot of flow. I went with Miniflakes. It gets blown around a little bit. I think it really helps to think about some of the flow pushing into the overflow box. That's why I said a couple of MP 40’s on each side of back wall down lower ( maybe 6” to 8” ) above the sand.

I my tank I have a closed loop with one return in the front left corner pointed towards the overflow.

This is my 60×30×22- 150.
2 Sea Sweeps with Tunze 6255 powerheads. Cord runs through the sweep. All the flow I will ever need in this system with only 2 powerheads.
Tunze has the ORCA now with the 6105. They are worth a look too.

Who made your tank?

Congratulations on your tank; the rock looks fantastic.

I'd like to know how your Tunze pumps are performing. Are you happy with your purchase? Do they move enough water for SPS corals?

Any updates on your tank?

Tank is 2 years old.
The sweeps with the 2 6255 powerheads is all I need. Currently running them at 50%.
Systems flow can be increased as the tank grows in. I run 1 sweep on my ext 112 also.

The pair of 6075s I have on the back glass work very well. The Tunze website that controls them works pretty well. I could easily see them working for SPS. I have mainly had LPS thus far. I will probably get an Orca once I stop spending money on other things.

Here are a few images of the current tank.

It's been a bunch of fun getting things going and problem-solving various issues. My latest additions are some Micromussa Lord Acans that I will be mounting once they acclimate to the tank more. I also have a small school of chalk bass in quarantine. My latest challenges have been some temp swings due to summer, which I think I have under control after learning a little more about APEX programing. I am also seeing some zoanthid shrinkage, which I think it due to chemical warfare. I am hoping some activated carbon will help with this.
