No worries man. F
The filter isn’t coming in until Tuesday.

Cool because it will take all of about 5 minutes to explain and post pics but I'm having a lazy Sunday afternoon! ;)

This is how I’m spending my “lazy Sunday”

Not a current picture but this is my view when I go to walk in or out my room on our rig.

This is the drilling rig I’m currently sitting on.

How long have you been doing that for a job? Where is the rig located? What is the length of time you go per stretch?

I’ve been fracking on offshore rigs for almost 2 years now, but I’ve been in the oilfield ever since I was 18. This rig is located in Grenn Canyon 338 which is 100 miles off the coast of Louisiana. We don’t have a scheduled times that we say out. One job might only take 5 days, and another job might take 2 months. In between the very end of august to the beginning of December I had spend 70 days offshore working on 4 different jobs all on a different rig each job. I’ve been on this rig since January 23rd and I’m finally coming back tomorrow. I could walk in the shop tomorrow and my coordinator could tell me I’m going on another job in 2 days.

Thanks for sharing. I would be inclined to think the "not knowing" part of it must be the worst.

It is for me! It’s so hard to ever plan anything more than a few days ahead. He had to request off like 6 months in advance for us to take a vacation for Christmas. And I’ve learned to usually add on at least 2 weeks to whatever their estimated time out there will be, because nothing ever seems to go as scheduled. A “two week job” usually means a month  I’ll be excited for him to come home when he’s actually on the helicopter cause that’s when I know it’s for sure lol

My husband used to be a truck driver. He'd be gone for months at a time sometimes. I was always so happy when he came home, but irritated, as well. Whenever he came home, that man would cramp my style something fierce! Then, as soon as we'd find our rhythm, off he went again. I tip my hat to you @Bre, and to Tyler as well. It's not an easy life!

I’m more used to it than she is. I’ve been working away from home since 2015 but up until 2018 I’ve always had a schedule. Once I swapped to offshore fracking that’s when the schedule went out the door and I worked pretty much on a 24 hour call basis. She’s definitely a trooper because one day I’ll tell her I’ll be home next week and then 12 hours later something happens and end up delaying us 2 weeks, or I’ll come home and get told the day after I get back that I’m going offshore again the next day.

Ohhh boy... I'm going to have to get those spray bar pics posted!

Welcome home, @DownSouthBandit !
Thanks man. I think I seen your pics on another thread. I’ll try to see if I can find it on here. What size pvc fittings did you use to come off of the fluval connection?

I woke up early this morning to get the aquascape shape I was thinking of. This is what I’m 89% sure I’ll go with. The arch in the middle will be replaced with the arch piece that’s in my 29 and it’ll be a little higher in the back section

I was also able to mask off and paint the back glass of the tank before the filter arrived. Im about to make a trip to Walmart, Home Depot, and Petco; and then I’ll put another coat of black on the back glass.

Here are the pics of the spray bar. It is very simple and straight forward. For simplification purposes, everything is 3/4" PVC and for fittings T = threaded, S = slip.

I come out of the supplied FX6 hose with a T x S adapter. However, I realize you are hard-plumbing your lines. I then attached a S x S, 90 street elbow into the adapter. Out of that is standard 3/4 PVC pipe run into a coupler. Then another section of pipe run into another coupler. Then a S x T adapter with a cap screwed on it.

Each section of the 3/4 pipe is 13.5 inches long. Given those lengths along with the couplers and adapter and cap, should give you 4" of space on either side of the bar when centered in your 75. I cannot recall the spacing I used when drilling the holes in the PVC but some simple math will give you the proper uniform spacing. It's better to do this with the bar fully assembled. After getting everything measured, cut and drilled I sanded it. Then I applied two coats of Krylon Black Matte spray paint.

I did not cement anything as I wanted to run and test different configurations. ie - 1 section vs 2 sections vs 3 sections, aiming each section of the spray bar at different angles, etc. I know you know this but be sure to clean and cement everything prior to the spray bar. Also, don't forget to throw a union in each line for easy removal.

Finally, and I'm not sure if you know this or not, the flow coming out of the spray bar will be strongest near the end cap. In other words, you'll want to have the end capped end furthest away from wherever you place your intake line.

And here's a pic of the intake.

I've tried to make this as easy as possible to understand. However, my understanding and your understanding may be different so don't hesitate to ask me any questions. Oh, and because you're new, I'll give you 1/2 off my regular charge rate for answering any questions. ;) ;Hilarious ;)

When setting things up, you'll want to put a protective blanket or something over that spray painted back. It will scratch pretty easily otherwise.

Here's the paint I used on the spray bar. Krylon Fusion. I would not recommend any other type of paint.

While everyone else is at a Mardi Gras parade, Tyler the “plumber” is making a mess of the house.

We also couldn’t find that particular spray paint at Home Depot (and I doubt he would even be patient enough for it to dry) so he’s just leaving pipes white for now.
